On 18 March 2025, in recognition of International Women's Day (8th March) and World Water Day (22nd March), participants worldwide joined Water for Women, WaterAid, World VisionSNVThe University of Technology, Sydney - Institute for Sustainable Futures (UTS-ISF) and the Centre for Advocacy and Research for a webinar, For ALL Women: Equality and Empowerment through Climate-Resilient Inclusive WASH.

'Sustainability isn’t about working alone—it’s about working smarter together. Stronger partnerships, local leadership, and a commitment to learning will ensure WASH systems remain resilient for generations.'

Turea Wickham, World Vision Papua New Guinea

This webinar celebrated the release of Water for Women’s latest learning on ‘What does Climate-Resilient Inclusive WASH Look Like?’ specifically exploring the #WellspringsofWASH through three interconnected learning briefs:

(1) Integrating Risk and Resilience for Climate-Resilient WASH Programming

(2) Strengthening Governance for Climate-Resilient WASH Systems

(3) The Criticality of GEDSI for Climate-Resilient WASH

Together with our partners, we thoroughly enjoyed sharing our latest learning on climate-resilient inclusive water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) across 16 Asia Pacific countries, along with partner case studies from Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, Nepal and India. This work and learning confirms that evidence-based approaches to diversity and equality are not only necessary for climate resilience, but prerequisites for peace, prosperity and stability. This is a message that must be championed by ALL people and ALL organisations in ALL of their diversities. Investment in gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) is an investment in a richer future for everyone and ensures a real pathway to a climate-resilient and just future.

'A key factor in Water for Women's success has been the value of working in partnership, both within the fund but also with many of the people, organisations and advocates around the world. That willingness to share and exchange ideas in order to strengthen the outcomes, to create collectively, has enriched our learning process. Diverse perspectives create stronger solutions for everybody.'

Join us to continue this learning journey at Climate Resilience Pathways

Water security, WASH, and climate resilience are deeply interconnected, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, where climate challenges such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and water scarcity are becoming more severe. The Climate Resilience Pathways conference will explore how ensuring access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and effective water management is not only critical for health but also foundational to building resilience in the face of a changing climate.

Working collaboratively with partners across the region, Water for Women and the International WaterCentre are hosting this conference as an opportunity for professional, practitioners and Development Partners working in water, WASH, climate and GEDSI, to share best practices and integrated approaches as a fundamental requirement of climate resilience.
